Well the main question was is ADHD curable....
Our short documentary is about the lives of 2 ADHD sufferers. We decided to follow 2 characters of different ages so that viewers could see the differences and similarities the dissorder had amongst different age groups. Both The sufferes were girls, which added to our authenticity boys are usually more misbehaved than girlies.
The use of our phyciatrist educates the viewers about ADHD, as the subject is not brought up that often, and the symptoms are highlighted. Whilest filming Vox Pops, we realised that older people were the ones that were mostly aware of the dissorder, whilst younger community were nt, meaning this was a ideal subject for our younger audience to watch to educate themselves.
Our overall aim with this documentary was to make viewers more aware of ADHD and to find out whether it is curable.....
Title - Wild

Review
Wild a documentary which focuses on a mental issue or in other words a mental disorder mainly affected in children. The short documentary looks in to the lives of two attention deficit hyperactive disorder suffers and how it affects their lives or does it not? The documentary Wild does not only focus on the two main protagonists however shows other views on attention deficit hyperactive disorder is it only a con? Or a money making scheme? What causes attention deficit hyperactive disorder and is it curable?
Eighteen year old Rishika Kumar presents herself as a emotional individual who has been highly affected with this disorder and eight year old Monique Flora a hyperactive and loud child who expresses her disorder differently to Rishika.
The use of many techniques brings together a hitting documentary which presents its argument or message in a unique way to its audience.
Title – Wild disorder
Interesting Fact:
Hardeep, Jalna and Vanita went to London to film Dr robin(Phyciatrist) who gave a sense of professionalism to our documentary, unfortunately we filmed him with the mike turned off as a result we had to go re-shoot Dr robin.
Hardeep and Jalna stayed up all night trying to load the footage up on to the computer however, in the end it turn out we had the wrong wire therefore we resulted in getting the wire off a fellow student whom came to the rescue.
Review:
What is attention deficit hyperactive disorder? What are the causes? Does it come naturally or is it inherited through genes? People who suffer from this how do they cope? How do they feel?
The short documentary represents the life of two real life people whom suffer from attention deficit hyperactive disorder. Wild explore the lifestyle of a day to day basis of two protagonists Monique Flora 8 and Rishika Kumar 18. Monique Flora a hyper yet emotional girl lets us into her world to see how her life is through her angle. Rishika Kumar shares her struggles and emotional thoughts making us identify with her point of view.
Wild doesn’t only show real life experience also gives an insight to what actual attention deficit hyperactive disorder is, gives general issues that have been arisen and debates which follow in our society today.
The use of montage, editing and music creates a sense of heart touching feel to many scene that occur in the documentary. The use of instrumental music created an almost impact feel of the subject where viewers can sympathies with the protagonist.
Many viewers are to identify with the protagonist and relate back to the following problems. The documentary follows the lives of two different people keeping the audiences concentration throughout the documentary.

For my practical production, I worked in a group with two others to produce a documentary called ‘Wild’. The documentary is based on a disorder called Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The documentary is to education audiences on the disorder. The documentary also investigates on two characters one aged 11 and the other 18 about their disorder and how it affects their day to day life. As a group we thought it was important to have the title of the documentary title linked to the disorder and the word ‘wild’ perfectly describes those who suffer from ADHD. However this also created an enigma as the word ‘wild’ could relate to many other subjects.
As a group we decided that we would share all the responsibilities equally, with this each group member ideas were used. Hardeep was mainly in charge of the camera and any other equipment that was booked out. Whilst filming I was hospitalised so I missed out on loads of filming, however then later was back and did participate in some of the filming. It could also be seen clearly that Jalna and Hardeep did loads more editing as I was abroad for my treatment however did as much as I could. However the editing time was a stressful part of creating the documentary as we did not follow our story board so we had a few problems for the narrative and story line.
The opening of the documentary starts off with a reverse shot of a background full of paint, the image then goes in a reverse shot and the paint becomes clear as hands of paint come and the title ‘wild’ appears. We used a childish instrumental and also the colours of the pain are bright more child like. This is so that audiences can relate to the whole starting of sequence to children as ADHD is more common in children.
There are a range of images throughout the documentary to convey and pass on our message to the audiences and most images have a voice over to them relating back to the main topic and subject ADHD. We carefully selected some vox pops to define what ADHD means. We used each word from a different vox pop and let each shot cut in straight after one another. After the definition we had some vox pops explaining what ADHD actually means.
We used parallel sound in the documentary as we felt that the music can also send out a message to the audiences. We used a song by Sugar Babes called ‘Ugly’; this song enables the audience to see how the characters of the documentary feel with the disorder. The mise en scene was carefully decided on for example when the voice over explains about how we caught up with one of our protagonist ‘Monique’ after school, she was dressed in school uniform. Also when the voice over of ‘Monique’ explains her behaviour amongst others, we show it in a garden with her playing around with other characters.
We gave the documentary our fullest attention as every minor mistake was corrected many times and every detail was looked in to. We also re shot many times, as we failed to get the right effect the first few times. We decided to challenge stereotypes, instead of having a naught boy as the protagonist we decided to have a naughty Asian girl. We also had a female voice over; this also challenges the stereotype of having a typical male voice over. Having a female voice over does not only challenge stereotypes but as the topic or main subject of the documentary is to do with a touching and unfortunate disorder, having a female voice over creates a sense of sympathy to the protagonist. After studying ‘Bowling for Columbine’ in module two, we witnessed that the realism of the documentary lies in the editing and producing shaky shots by using a hand held camera. We were also inspired from other documentaries such as ‘Body Shock’, we did not show our interviewer and only used a voice over, similarly to the documentary we looked at. We also interviewed the protagonist’s sister, this gave our documentary a sense of realism and gave the subject a powerful appeal, as the sister of the protagonist is targeting and attacking the sufferer of ADHD.
We used on screen text to keep the audience focused on to the screen, we also had sound which was parallel to what was being written on the screen however we used both to reinforce what was being said. We used a clear and standard font so it shows the strict and seriousness of the subject.
A strength is that we used young Asian females as our protagonist and other characters. This is unconventional and has gone against a patriarchal society. We challenge the stereotype of good young Asian females into naughty and disruptive.
Our cinematography was done to our best appeal, as we have used a range of different shots. For example we did a fade out of the second character ‘Rishika’ in a reverse shot being physically abusive to show her ‘wild’ side. The documentary ‘Wild’ will be shown on BBC1 as BBC1 is a public service broadcaster, also the main reason for this documentary is to educate audiences so therefore it is most convenient for the documentary to be shown on BBC1. The main audience for the documentary is 13 + of any gender. The documentary is focused on young teenagers to educate them as early as possible so this documentary is mainly targeted at a young audience
In conclusion, ‘Wild’ delivers its main purpose to the audience which is to educate them about Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Positive Comments:
Cinematography
~ Good steady shots
~ Good shots of people being interviewed
Mise-en-scene
~ good use of different background
~ good use of natural settings
Lighting
~ Good bright/clear lighting used could see all the footage taken
~Natural lighting
Sound
~ The sound was clear as you hear everything what people were saying
~ Natural sound, Microphone was used well
Conventions/matching audience?
~ The audience can relate to the people in the vox pops
~Range of people were being interviewed
Constructive Criticism:
Cinematography
~ Need to use a tripod when doing vox pops getting steady shots
~ Lacking a variety of shots
Mise-en-scene
~ Visit more town areas
~ Use a variety of locations
Lighting
~ You can’t see the person as the light is too much in the person face.
~ Lighting could be brighter
Sound
~ could hear background noise such as noise of cars
~ Microphone needs to be away from the person as the sound is not so good
Conventions/matching audience?
~ Interview more educated people
Suggestions and ideas:
What else would you (or the target audience) like to see in this production? (scenes? sequences?)
~ A montage sequence; a range of opinions form all ethnicities, voice over and cut up footage into sections.
~ More interviews of a professional and maybe having archive footage in the documentary may be good.
Suggestions for post-production/editing (music? voiceover? cutaways? montage? cross cutting? titles? slo-mo?)
~ Include some sad/emotional songs to shows this is an emotional subject.

Progress report
- We had a change of character as our other character couldn’t film this week, but we managed to get our selves another character which is good news.
- We have done most filming with our new character, we have completed most of our storyboard which is interviews with a teacher, parents and Haley asking their views on ADHD.
- Me, Jelly and Binu went to see Dr robin on Monday ...unfortunately i didn’t turn the mike on...sooo we got footage of him ...buh we cant hear him....:(:(....soo i booked another appointment on Monday with him soo we can re-shoot. However, when we saw Dr robin he helped us soo much understanding ADHD better and answered our key question woohoo!
- We have got different scene with Haley such as a bedroom, playground, living room scene therefore most of our production is nearly done....soo the question is what’s left????......basically, we jus got to re- shoot Dr Robin again!!!!!!

A twist!!
Many people think ADHD is a fraud because they believe that children are naturally meant to be be a bit loud and hyper however some argue that this is a disorder because having lack of concentration is not part of a child's healthy lifestyle.
i also did some research on how ADHD is actually diagonosed, and this how it is; The following ADD / ADHD Adult Self Report Scale (ASRS) questionnaire can be used as a starting point to help you recognize the signs/symptoms of Adult ADHD but is not meant to replace consultation with a trained healthcare professional. An accurate diagnosis can only be made through a clinical evaluation. Regardless of the questionnaire results, if you have concerns about diagnosis and treatment of Adult ADHD, please discuss your concerns with your physician.
